Check out our newest media presentation for secondary schools (grades 6 - 12)!!!

This quick-paced, class-long presentation begins with a look at POWER, in its various forms (strength/size, abilities/skills, money, appearance), and they are often abused. This is followed by a look at conflict, and how we respond to it (i.e., aggressive, assertive). We also consider the bully, his/her underlying needs, and the consequences of his/her behavior. While were on the topic, we note the broad range of bullying behaviors, and what your school won’t tolerate.

Because hate and violence rise out of fear, we note the importance of addressing our pain, instead of trying to “escape” our negative feelings. Because this often occurs in the context of relationships, we consider some of the key “warning signs” in dating relationships.

All of this leads us to the present reality of communicating in a cyber-world. The newest battle-ground for bullying behaviors, we note the lack of interpersonal communication and the potential dangers, including what we share. The students are reminded that we can not be-LIE-ve everything that we read and see on our cell phones and PC monitors.

Finally, we’re reminded that each of us possess the POWER to respond appropriately to conflict, even as bystanders. And the sooner we bring someone else into the picture—be it a teacher, principal, or other adult—the sooner we will expose the bully’s secret game.
