Mr. Jim is a national school presenter, educator, and author. Formerly a prevention specialist, he has uniquely combined his professional background with prestidigitation (magic) skills. He has reached millions of students across the United States, Europe, the Middle East and India with presentations that incorporate life skills and character developing information. His use of visual aids (illusions and/or multi-media) makes his messages memorable.
“Mr. Jim” Merrills has served as a substance abuse therapist and in prevention. He holds a Masters degree and is Project Alert certified. He has taught Psychology and Sociology at the post-secondary level, and served as school board president.
Mr. Jim is a long-standing member with the Society of American Magicians (SAM). He has been a part of the Houdini Club of Wisconsin, and has participated in the national “Desert Seminar” (Las Vegas), hosted by Siegfried and Roy.
His Elementary shows are offered in grade-by-grade or multiple assemblies, for more audience participation and a better learning environment. Middle/High-School programs generally begin with an all-student assembly, followed by small-group presentations.
Optional evening programs encourage family involvement.
